Healthsperien Founding Principal & Managing Partner, Andrew MacPherson, Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation

Healthsperien is proud to share that Andrew MacPherson, Founding Principal and Managing Partner of Healthsperien, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation, a global nonprofit dedicated to advancing compassionate care for individuals facing serious illness, death, and grief.

Andrew brings more than two decades of leadership experience across hospice, palliative, and serious illness care—spanning care delivery, national advocacy, and health system transformation. His appointment reflects a shared commitment between Healthsperien and the Foundation to person-centered care, dignity at the end of life, and mission-driven leadership.

Carrying Forward a Transformational Legacy

The Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation was established to carry forward the legacy of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, widely regarded as the founder of the modern hospice and palliative care movement and one of the most influential pioneers in 20th-century medicine. Her groundbreaking work fundamentally reshaped how clinicians, caregivers, patients, and families understand dying, grief, and the human experience at the end of life.

Welcoming Andrew to the Board, Ken Ross—Dr. Kübler-Ross’s son and Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors—emphasized the alignment between Andrew’s career and the Foundation’s mission:

“My mother believed deeply in the importance of pairing compassion with action. Andrew’s career reflects that same philosophy. His decades of experience in hospice and palliative care, combined with his strategic insight and commitment to mission-driven leadership, make him an invaluable addition to our board as we continue to grow the Foundation’s impact and carry my mother’s work forward.”

A Career Grounded in Compassion and Action

Throughout his career, Andrew has worked at the intersection of policy, practice, and advocacy to improve care for individuals living with serious illness. His leadership includes extensive collaboration with national organizations such as the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) and the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), helping to advance value-based, patient-centered models of care.

As a Founding Partner of Healthsperien since 2013, Andrew has also played a key role in shaping the firm’s strategic direction. Early in Healthsperien’s history, he was part of the leadership team that helped dismantle the false but politically powerful “death panels” narrative following the Affordable Care Act debates—protecting access to serious illness and end-of-life care during a pivotal moment in health policy.

Looking Ahead

On the Board of Directors, Andrew’s focus will center on advancing the Foundation’s long-term strategy, stewarding Dr. Kübler-Ross’s legacy, and supporting the organization’s continued evolution to meet the needs of patients, families, and caregivers in a rapidly changing health care landscape.

Reflecting on the appointment, Andrew shared:

“Dr. Kübler-Ross reshaped how the world understands dying, grief, and dignity at the end of life. Over the course of my career, I have seen firsthand how her ideas continue to influence care delivery, policy, and culture. I am deeply honored to join the Board of Directors and look forward to helping advance the Foundation’s strategic vision and ensuring her legacy remains both protected and powerfully relevant for future generations.”

In addition to his role at Healthsperien, Andrew serves as Executive Chairman and Founder of the Foundation for Social Connection ACTION NETWORK (F4SC-AN), where he provides strategic leadership on policy solutions to strengthen social ties and address social isolation and loneliness across the lifespan—an issue closely connected to dignity, caregiving, and well-being in serious illness.

Healthsperien congratulates Andrew and the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Foundation on this important milestone and looks forward to the continued impact of their shared commitment to compassionate, person-centered care.
