Biography
Tyler Oberlander is a Vice President in the Healthsperien Center for Health Research, Policy, and Strategy, with expertise in quality measurement, health services research, and program evaluation. Tyler has extensive experience partnering with health care organizations to define data strategies, oversee data collection and licensing, develop analytic plans, and guide data analysis and visualization. He excels at translating complex health care data into actionable insights that drive policy and business decisions.
Prior to joining Healthsperien, Tyler served as a Director at NORC at the University of Chicago in the Health Care group, where he led teams of researchers, data scientists, and consultants to deliver high-impact results for government, association, foundation, and private-sector clients. Notable projects included evaluating health care utilization and outcomes among senior housing residents, analyzing health care cost trends, and examining the relationship between health care delivery system characteristics, health outcomes, and cost.
He joined NORC from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), where he most recently served as the Director of Research & Analysis. In this role, he supported NCQA’s flagship Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), Health Plan Accreditation (HPA), and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) programs, and advised internal and external consulting partners based on an extensive knowledge of quality measure development, models of care, payment design, and federal policy.
Tyler began his career at Social & Scientific Systems, where he supported health policy research funded by federal agencies within the Department of Health & Human Services including the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program evaluation and maintenance of the Medicare physician fee schedule.
Tyler holds a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Affairs from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
