Biography
Andrew MacPherson is the Founding Principal and Managing Partner of Healthsperien, LLC, bringing over 20 years of expertise in federal and state legislative, regulatory, and political health care policy. He leads strategic policy development and advocacy efforts for a wide array of clients, including Fortune 100 companies, national health plans, professional associations, coalitions, health care innovators, and not-for-profit organizations.
Andrew is a recognized expert in person-centered health care transformation, focusing on addressing the public health challenges of social isolation and loneliness, advancing value-based insurance design (V-BID), and improving advanced illness and end-of-life care delivery. He is also deeply engaged in crafting innovative policy solutions for public sector health plans. A sought-after speaker on national health policy and political issues, Andrew has presented at major events such as HLTH and the End Well Symposium. His insights have been featured in leading media outlets, including The Washington Post, Scripts News, Health Affairs, NPR, and more.
Before founding Healthsperien in 2013, Andrew served as Director of Government Affairs at Jennings Policy Strategies, Inc. There, he collaborated with Chris Jennings on high-profile initiatives, including the Obama and Clinton presidential campaigns, the Bipartisan Policy Center’s health reform efforts with former Majority Leaders Baker, Daschle, Dole, and Mitchell, and the Clinton Global Initiative. Andrew advised a wide range of clients on federal policy, political, and communications strategies, gaining significant expertise in health care reform, coalition building, and stakeholder engagement.
Earlier in his career, Andrew held leadership and advisory positions with the American Psychiatric Association, Senators Carl Levin and Patrick Leahy, and the Democratic Governors’ Association. These roles further strengthened his expertise in health policy, political strategy, and advocacy. Originally from Vermont, Andrew earned a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington
